A sense of safety and security is one of the most important things we can give our children. For kids who have been affected by trauma, the feeling of safety can be difficult to achieve.

You are changing lives through the new Trauma-Informed Parenting group by helping parents and foster parents support their kids and learn how to heal and thrive. A county-wide forum created by the State of Michigan, the group is designed to educate parents on how to cope with the behaviors of kids affected by trauma, and provide them with resources. This four-week group helps parents:

  • Learn about trauma and what can be done to promote healing
  • Gain techniques for helping children feel safe
  • Understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors
  • Learn how a child’s trauma can affect parents and the important of self-care
