Recently, our friends at Michigan’s Children organized legislators and influencers to take the tour of our Center and hear directly from our youth, parents and guardians. We couldn’t have been more excited to share our stories of hope and healing, courage and change.

The tour group was made up of legislators and decision-makers from the local and state government. We discussed critical topics including:

  • Better supports for foster care parents
  • Incentives for schools and providers to work together to offer care for students
  • Barriers to services, such as mental health assessments for children entering foster care
  • Fair reimbursement rates for mental health and case management services

Our tour gave guests the opportunity to hear the depth of services our families need, directly from them. Our CEO & President, Debora Matthews, and COO, George Winn II, also shared the financial barriers and significant gaps we face in meeting those needs.
