Every adoption is a journey. For many, the process involves unexpected challenges that require support, commitment and lots of love on everyone’s part. The Children’s Center is a partner with adoptive families at all points before, during and after the adoption process. When Ms. Frazier adopted Katllyn, The Children’s Center walked with the family the entire way: providing the support, services and therapy they needed to thrive. Now, they are taking new challenges and enjoying exciting experiences they never could have imagined. This is their story.

Katllyn entered foster care in 2014 and her parent’s parental rights were terminated in 2016. Over the next few years Katllyn bounced around between multiple foster homes, some of which indicated they were interested in adopting her but did not end up adopting her. After Katllyn was removed from her original foster home, the Aunt of her first foster parent came forward and indicated her interest in adopting Katllyn. There were a few hiccups along the way, but Ms. Frazier was always in support of what was best for Katllyn and stuck with the process. Katllyn presented some challenging behaviors, but Ms. Frazier remained committed to Katllyn and remained committed to being her forever family. Katllyn’s adoption was finalized on July 23, 2020.

Ms. Frazier states, “This is a photo of Katllyn & myself from a vacation in August 2021. It was Katllyn’s very first airplane ride. It has been a wonderful life saving experience becoming a mother to Katllyn. I realize and understand that becoming a parent is not an easy job. Katllyn and I have had a few bumps along the way these last few years. However, I would not do anything to change our journey as long as she is part of my life. I love Katllyn and as her Mom I want to keep sharing the love as long as we live.”
