Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Youth United, a youth-led initiative that promotes positive youth voice and youth engagement, aim to highlight Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, (May 7, 2022). Each year Youth United host an event raising awareness about the importance of children’s mental health during the month of May. This includes hosting fun activities, trivia, presentations, resources and information for youth and families.

In the past Youth United has hosted a carnival, an open mic event, a walking rally and even a virtual “Mission: I’m Possible” themed Children’s Mental Health Awareness event. This year they have joined in with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN)’s Initiative, Mental Health Care: Putting Children First, to elaborate on the importance of children’s mental health.

On May 12, 2022, Youth United is hosting a Virtual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day Event from 2pm-5pm. This year’s theme is “My Mind Matters”. There will be an interactive discussion around acceptance, a self-care workshop, youth telling their personal stories, resources and more.
