On May 10th, The Children’s Center hosted the 18th Annual Power of Possibilities Breakfast, presented by Ford Motor Company, entirely virtual for the 3rd year. The event was very successful in increasing awareness of the incredible work done at The Children’s Center as well as raised more than $369,000!

The theme for the Power of Possibilities Breakfast was Imagine With Me, a theme that prompted viewers to imagine life in someone else’s shoes. The Children’s Center is there for people of different backgrounds, lifestyles, and neighborhoods. And we all dream of a bright and beautiful future for not only the children receiving services, but also the families that support them.

This year there were four families who provided personal testimonials and spoke about their experiences over the years with The Children’s Center: Darlene Ross, an almost 20-year foster care mother, David Simmons, super-dad of three, Phoenicia Jackson, a voice of positivity and strength for her son, and Arlyssa Heard, a dedicated mother encouraging change in the treatment of young black boys. The videos of these families are available for viewing HERE on YouTube.

The success of this event is thanks to the many Table Captains that volunteered their time, staff members dedicated to this event, and especially a big thanks to the family’s that chose to share their personal stories. Their powerful words serve to uplift and inspire others. In the words of our President, Debora Matthews, “let’s imagine together, achieve together, let’s dream together, and become together.”
