At The Children’s Center, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive.
For nearly a century, we’ve walked alongside families with the care, support, and compassion they need to build stronger futures.

Who We Are
The Children’s Center is one of Michigan’s most trusted providers of mental and behavioral health, child welfare services, and family support programs. We stand with families who are facing trauma, stress, and life’s toughest challenges, offering a safe place where children can heal and hope can grow.
We believe children thrive when they are recognized, supported, and encouraged. We partner with parents and caregivers, building on each family’s strengths to foster lasting healing and stability.
What We Do
We provide a full range of services that help children and families move forward with confidence.
Why it Matters
Every family deserves access to care that understands their story. The children we serve are navigating experiences that no child should face alone. We meet them with acceptance, compassion, and proven approaches that build resilience and restore hope.
When a child heals, a family strengthens. When a family thrives, a community grows. This is the heart of our mission.

Our Story
Founded in 1929, by Senator James Couzens, as one of Detroit’s first child guidance clinics, The Children’s Center has grown into a comprehensive hub for behavioral health, child welfare, and family support. Our legacy is shaped by generations of children and families who found strength, courage, and possibility within our doors.
While much has changed, our commitment remains the same. We exist to help children and families shape their own future.
