    biography

    Cheryl joined The Children’s Center (TCC) in June 2021 as the Chief Philanthropy Officer.  She is an experienced, mission-driven executive with 30+ years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector with a highly successful track record.

    Cheryl brings to TCC a broad range of skills in strategic planning, community outreach, fundraising, program development and marketing gained through staff, consultant, and volunteer experiences. Most recently, she led United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s donor relations team, focusing on building relationships with individuals to secure annual, major, and planned gifts as well as the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, Emerging Philanthropists, Women United and Alumni United donor groups. Previously, she has held positions at Focus: HOPE, Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, DAPCEP and the Detroit Food Policy Council. Her personal mission is to contribute to the quality of life for all residents of the City of Detroit in ways that promote social, economic, and racial equity.

    Cheryl lives in Northwest Detroit with her two sons where she is active in her community and spends time gardening, knitting, cycling and attending live music events.
