The Children’s Center is continually helping the most vulnerable children and families. One reason the organization is able to serve more than 7,000 clients annually is the remarkable people it has in place. Carol Bosché, chief financial officer of The Children’s Center, oversees the organization’s $11 million annual operating budget so it can provide a broad range of specialized programs for area youths. Her areas of responsibility include financial and accounting functions, human resources, and management information systems.
Bosché, a native of Illinois, graduated from Ottawa University in Kansas in 1972 with a bachelor of education in music and a minor in mathematics. In 1985, she completed work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she obtained a master of business administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance.
Bosché began her professional career in the field of music. From 1972 to 1975, she held several music teaching positions in Louisville, Kentucky, and she also served as director and teacher for a private music studio.
In 1975, Bosché joined the U.S. Peace Corps. She was assigned to the School for the
Blind, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras where she was a teacher and resource coordinator. She taught
music, nutrition and craft classes, and directed the school choir. In addition, Bosché solicited
international support and coordinated local resources for the school. She also participated on
a task force with the Honduran Ministry of Education in developing rehabilitation services for disabled
persons.
In 1978, Bosché left the Peace Corps to pursue a career as a housing management specialist and
financial analyst for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Detroit. Her main
duties included management of federally subsidized, multi-family housing programs, which included projects
operated by public housing commissions and privately-owned and operated developments.
Following her stint with HUD, Deloitte & Touche hired Bosché into its Middle Market Group in 1985, where she became a manager. Delivering exceptional client service and supervising the group’s accountants and consultants was a top priority for Bosché. Her major assignments included audit, tax and consulting services for small to mid-sized manufacturing companies, non-profit organizations, and financial institutions.
In 1990, Bosché became Vice-president of Finance for W.H. Froh, Inc., in New Haven, Michigan. Along with a staff of 25, Bosché was responsible for all financial and administrative functions of a $30 million trucking company with locations and operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
In 1993, Bosché became Vice-president of Finance for Energy Electric Cable, Inc., based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Her responsibilities included overseeing the financial and accounting functions of related wire and cable distribution and manufacturing companies, with combined revenues of $75 million and 12 branches located throughout the U.S.
