We offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, treatment programs, psychiatric services, and parent support for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Services are available to children ages 18 months to 17 years.
Meet Our Doctors
Kara Brooklier, Ph.D., Director of Autism Training & Evaluation
Dr. Brooklier is a pediatric neuropsychologist with over 10 years of clinical and research experience in the area of autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
Lesly Hendershot, BCBA-D, Director of Autism Behavioral Services
Dr. Lesly Hendershot is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) and clinical psychologist with a specialization in the treatment of children with autism and developmental disorders.
Cecilia Astorga, M.D., Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Astorga is a Board Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist who specializes in disorders of childhood. She has worked at The Children’s Center for over 25 years.
We offer comprehensive evaluations of autism spectrum disorders, which include:
- Parent clinical interviews
- Autism observational assessments
- Adaptive behavior assessments
- Neuropsychological/cognitive/developmental assessments
- Parent feedback with recommendations for parents and school
- Psychiatric Evaluations
Our Autism Services Program provides 1-on-1 interventions for families with children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Behavioral Therapy Interventions
ABA uses teaching methods based on learning theory to increase skill development and decrease problem behaviors. Learn more.
Parent education and training
Licensed clinicians provide parents with tips on how to manage difficult behaviors and incorporate skill-building programs.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parents are taught with live therapist coaching to build positive behaviors and eliminate negative behaviors. This has been shown to decrease behavior problems and aggression, as well as increase pro-social behavior. Learn more.
Social skills groups
We offer a variety of social skills groups for children with ASDs and associated conditions. All groups are led by ASD clinicians.
Skill building groups
Activities of daily living are common challenges for children with ASDs. Our specialty clinics include:
- Toileting Clinic
- Picky Eating Clinic
- Sleep Clinic
We provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children with autism spectrum disorders. Psychiatric care is also provided in coordination with evaluations and behavior treatments.
Coordination & Parent Support
Parent Support Group Meetings (offered in English and Spanish)
We offer parent support group meetings covering a range of relevant topics. Parents are given time to connect with other parents, and get input and suggestions from the group.
Support Coordination Services
This team assists families by getting them linked to additional resources, such as respite services, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
