About Volunteering
Volunteering with The Children's Center provides you with the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.
With over 20 different programs, our volunteer assignments range from special events to on going opportunities and are offered year round. Maintaining our due diligence to keeping our children safe, volunteers working directly with children are required to complete a DHS Clearance, as well other background checks.
 
Volunteer Orientation
Volunteer orientation is conducted the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and is required prior to volunteering. During orientation, potential volunteers spend the 1st hour experiencing a tour of our campus and mission. The 2nd hour is spent learning about the policies and procedures of The Children's Center as they pertain to volunteers. *Confirmation of attendance is required for all potential volunteers*
 
Volunteer Recognition
The Children's Center recognizes the value of the gift of time. Therefore to show our appreciation, we engage in recognition activities for our volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Month.
In addition, we host an annual volunteer recognition event honoring 1 individual volunteer, community organization, and corporate organization for their outstanding contribution over the year prior.
 
Community Partners
Recognizing the importance of building strong relationships, we extend our hand in welcoming civic, community and corporate organizations as community partners. We engage our community partners by matching them with assignments, projects, and events within our agency that are aligned with their philanthropic interest.
 
Monthly Birthday Party Club
Our Monthly Birthday Club is another way that we help to bridge the gap. Due to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers we provide monthly birthday parties for our clients whose birthday is that particular month.

Family Movie Nights
Our Family Movie Night is another great way to get involved! Held every 3rd Thursday of the month, movie nights provide our families with an opportunity to enjoy an evening outing at no cost to them. Our donors, sponsors, and volunteers help to make this a more enjoyable experience by assisting with refreshments and volunteering during the event.
 
Back to School/Summer Smash
As we gear up toward preparing our children and families for the new school year, we enjoy an end of the summer festival. The festival is held right here at The Children's Center and our volunteers go above and beyond with helping to make this event a success! With volunteer assignments that vary from face painting, serving food, and assisting with games, our volunteers take pleasure in bringing smiles to the faces of our children.
 
Holiday Program
Looking for a way to spread holiday cheer? If so, our Annual Holiday Program is an awesome way for you to become engaged! With the extreme generosity of our supporters, we provide a "Holiday Toy Shop" for our families who meet the qualification for participation. Volunteer opportunities for this program takes place from November through December, and are a great opportunity for team building projects.
